EDIC – SME Project Partnership Workshop was Held

The “EDIC-SME Project Partnership Workshop” was held in Eskişehir with the aim of providing support by the expert staff and advanced technical infrastructure of EDIC for SME’s operating in the aviation, rail systems, machinery manufacturing, automotive and white goods sectors in Eskişehir in developing their projects.

Anadolu Technology and Research Park Company (ATAP Inc.), Chairman of the Board of Directors Metin Saraç, Small and Medium Industry Development Organization (KOSGEB) Eskişehir Provincial Director Tarık Yılmaz, ATAP Inc. General Manager Dr. Sedat Telçeken, EDIC Director Hakan Ünal, Project Team Leader Dr. Kastytis Gečas, academicians and representatives of companies participating in the SME Capacity Building Program were participated in the workshop held in Eskişehir Organized Industrial Zone Conference Hall.

In his speech at the opening of the workshop, ATAP Inc., Chairman of the Board of Directors, Metin Saraç stated that, “The contributions of the projects to be realized particularly within the scope of EDIC project to our city and industry will be very significant. However, I would like to underline the sustainability of value-added projects. Joint R&D projects should be developed by our universities and industry for the consumable needs of the 3D metal printer within EDIC, which is an important machine in the project, and foreign dependency should be minimized.”

KOSGEB Eskişehir Provincial Director Tarık Yılmaz thanked EDIC and said, “As KOSGEB, we would like to thank the EDIC project, which offers our SMEs access to such important high value-added new technologies. As the directorate, we will be pleased to support our SMEs at this stage.”

ATAP Inc. General Manager Dr. Sedat Telçeken stated that, as EDIC, they are ready to meet the needs of SMEs and added “As you know, our project has been carried out since 2020 by the executive company of Eskişehir Technology Development Zone, ATAP Inc. On February 3, we started technical and non-technical trainings in 15 modules under 7 different headings to improve the capacities of our SMEs. These trainings will continue until March 17. In addition, this meeting, where 5 pilot projects will be selected as an important indicator of our project and the support of EDIC will be detailed, is highly important for us. As EDIC, we are ready with our experts and machine park for the engineering-design-prototyping needs of our SMEs in their projects.”

Project Team Leader Dr. Kastytis Gečas said, “I would like to thank you, our valuable SMEs, for your contribution to our project so far. This informative workshop for joint project development, which will be an important step for our SMEs and their projects to be developed together with EDIC in the next period, is valuable for us. We will be discussing the technical details and application processes of the project call together.”

Following the speeches, EDIC Director Hakan Ünal made a presentation on the services and technical infrastructure of EDIC and introduced sample products to the participants. In the workshop, the application process and details of the SME Support Program were explained to SMEs.

At the end of the workshop, participation certificates were presented to the companies participated in the SME Capacity Building Program, which was started on 3 February 3 2022.
