Within the scope of our Technical Assistance Project, a Study Visit to Spain was organized on 24-28 October 2022 in order to observe the centers and technoparks operating in Europe, which are good practice examples and using additive manufacturing, to expand our cooperation network by introducing our center and to share experiences. We would like to thank all the institutions hosted us at their centers for intense meetings held during our visits in Barcelona, Vitoria-Gasteiz, San Sebastian, Madrid and Malaga.
The first stop of our visit was Barcelona. We visited Parc UPC (Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya), one of the leading polytechnic universities and a public research and higher education institution in Europe, in the fields of engineering, architecture, science and technology. We continued our visit with DFactory, an initiative led by Zona Franca and promoting business activities in Barcelona. Then we visited Tecnocampus Mataró, a science park within the Pompeu Fabra University, and had the chance to listen to their knowledge and experiences.
On the second day of our visit, we discussed the latest developments in additive manufacturing with ADDIMAT Association, Additive and 3D Manufacturing Technologies Association of Spain.
Within the framework of our Study Visit, we also shared experience about additive manufacturing with MIZAR Additive Manufacturing, operating as an additive manufacturing company in the fields of aerospace technologies in Vitoria-Gasteiz.
We had information about the activities of the Technology Park of Alava, which acts as the focal point of the industry in Álava and Basque Country on a larger scale, and hosts a pool of companies, key agencies and start-ups from the most strategic European sectors, and introduced our center.
A meeting was also held with the CDTI – Center for the Development of Industrial Technology, a public institution in Madrid that supports the technological development and innovation of Spanish companies, and channels funding and support applications for national and international R&D projects.
At the Madrid Embassy, we were hosted by First Secretary Ayşe Zeybek and Commercial Counsellor Savaş Tarhan and we explained to them the purpose of our visit and our center. Following our meeting, we visited CESOL – Asociación Española de Soldadura y Tecnologías de Unión.
We started the last day of our visit with IASP – International Association of Science Park and our administrator company ATAP Inc. accepted as a new member of this association. We congratulate them.
Another meeting was held with Malaga TechPark, which has 630 companies and more than 20,000 employees, and the companies within this campus and information about their activities were obtained. Premo Group, the technology company that manufactures Tesla’s magnetic sensors, TORSA, a Spanish company specialized in designing and producing technology solutions for the mining, logistics and renewable energy sectors, and The Association of Science and Technology Parks of Spain (APTE) were among the other companies visited.
We have gained knowledge and experience in many fields, particularly in additive manufacturing technologies, by carrying out a very intense and efficient study visit. We would like to thank all the companies hosted us and provided information about their activities.

EDICtive Design Call Winners were Announced
The applications received within the scope of the EDICtive Design Call, which was announced on 10 June 2022 and continued until 17 October 2022, were examined and the winners from the industry and university sectors were determined. In the competition opened to applications from two different sectors, the participating teams developed creative solutions to minimize the energy consumption in heating and cooling systems in industrial facilities, machines and residences by using additive manufacturing methods.
As a result of the evaluation of applications, gift certificates in the amount of 25,000 TL for the winners, 20,000 TL for the second winners, and 15,000 TL for the third winners will be presented at the Award Ceremony to be held in January 2023. The prototypes of the winner designs in both sectors were produced with the machines of EDIC.
Winning Teams;
Industry category: 1. MDA TAI, 2. Geskon, 3. Formplast
University category; 1. X-trusion, 2. İTU Tam, 3. Hidroana
We would also like to thank our sponsors who supported us within the scope of the competition.

Additive Manufacturing Technologies were Closely Examined at Frankfurt Formnext Fair
The Formnext Fair held in Frankfurt, Germany was visited. Gathering the world of additive manufacturing under one roof, Formnext is a meeting point that brings together 3D printing suppliers and users in order to follow the rapid development of this technology in recent years. In the fair, we had the opportunity to closely examine the additive manufacturing technologies shaping modern production and to establish worldwide collaborations.
